Our Story

Plaster and lathe finishes were still the most common method of interior wall construction in the late 1950s when Maurice Purkiss began offering drywall installation in the Orillia area. The first to spearhead specialty drywall applications including texture and crown mouldings, he quickly developed a happy and loyal customer base.

Maurice raised his four sons in the family business, training each of them to become proficient in drywall finishing. Two went on to work in other trades, and upon Maurice’s passing in the 1990s, his middle son John took over leadership of the company.

Under John’s direction over the last 20+ years, Orillia Drywall has grown into a team of dedicated men and

women. We are committed to investing in our staff, and personally train each member of our team in elite drywall finishes as well as basic drywall installation.

The safety of our employees and clients is a priority. That’s why we are committed to upholding the highest standards of excellence in all safety and hygiene measures. We ensure that each member of our team is fully up to date on all relevant safety certifications, including working at heights training as well as the provincial WSIB program.

As we build toward the future, we are excited to continue working with so many amazing contractors and residential clients in our community.
